Jorgann Couzinet Wins in Morocco! The French Surfer Makes a Strong Comeback at the Pro Taghazout Bay QS 3000.
A key event on the European Qualifying Series circuit, the Pro Taghazout Bay returns every winter to the iconic Anchor Point. This competition offers surfers the chance to earn up to 3,000 points in the penultimate QS event of the season, crucial for qualifying for the higher-tier Challenger Series.
After a slow start to the season with a 25th-place finish at the Caraïbos Lacanau Pro and a runner-up spot at the Abanca Pantin Classic Galicia Pro, Jorgann arrived in Morocco ranked 6th on the European QS leaderboard—right inside the top 7 qualifying spots for the 2025 Challenger Series.

Morocco’s famous right-hand waves came alive this February, delivering exceptional conditions rarely seen on the European QS. Anchor Point is renowned for its long, barreling waves breaking over a rocky reef, offering multiple sections ideal for high-performance surfing. Throughout the event, surfers capitalized on 1.5 to 2-meter waves to showcase their skills. With commitment, technique, and passion on full display, every wave was a spectacle.
After several “Performance of the Day” honors and impressive heat scores, Jorgann found himself in the final against local hero Ramzi Boukhiam. The Moroccan surfer, a Championship Tour (CT) competitor, put on a powerful display of backside surfing, igniting the home crowd eager to see their champion shine. But Jorgann was in peak form, unleashing his best surfing. The two went head-to-head in an electrifying battle, constantly pushing each other to the limit. In the end, Jorgann scored a near-perfect 19.17 points (out of 20), edging out Ramzi, who finished with 19. Anchor Point felt like a CT-level event, and thanks to the performances of both finalists, the European QS was thrust into the global surfing spotlight.

Jorgann proved he belongs among the world’s best at this world-class point break. With this confidence-boosting win, he now heads to the season’s final stop in Caparica as the European QS rankings leader. With Challenger Series qualification nearly secured, his next goal is the European Champion title.
On the women’s side, France’s best result came from Nahia Milhau, who finished 5th in Morocco and climbed to 16th in the overall rankings. It was an incredible experience for the Soöruz team rider, who got to surf perfect, powerful waves against Europe’s top surfers.
